St Laurence College was buzzing with excitement this week as the school welcomed Dave’s Jungle for an engaging and educational wildlife presentation. Students enjoyed an up-close encounter with a diverse range of reptiles and exotic creatures, all while learning about their habitats, behaviours, and the importance of conservation.
A highlight of the visit was the inclusive and sensory-friendly approach taken throughout the sessions. Dave and his team created a calm, supportive environment that enabled students of all needs and abilities to engage comfortably and confidently. This nurturing atmosphere strongly reflected the Marianist characteristic of Family Spirit, as students supported one another and shared the experience with enthusiasm and respect.
Teachers reported that the visit sparked curiosity and boosted self-esteem, particularly among students who thrive through experiential learning. The opportunity to ask questions, explore textures, and observe animals safely aligned beautifully with Integral, Quality Education, encouraging students to learn through active participation and real-world discovery. Additionally, the focus on conservation helped promote the Marianist commitment to Service, Justice, and Peace, reminding students of their responsibility to care for creation.
