The highly successful Seventh Year, Repeat Leaving Certificate Programme at St. Laurence College has been operating since 1989. Whilst being very successful in achieving significant POINTS improvement, the course also aims to equip candidates with skills and techniques crucial for overall success in Third Level Education. NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT SECOND BEST? How do we take our expertise and experience and use them to enable you to make the repeat Leaving Certificate year one of your most memorable achievements? How much could you gain from receiving consistent expert assistance in all your subjects? Could you also benefit from on-going continued assessment, mentoring and exposure to effective study techniques, planning strategies and time management training? Rated in the top two ‘Best Performing Schools’ by the Sunday Times (2006), we believe it to be a highly beneficial option for those candidates interested in planning a personal and realistic career plan for the future. Places are limited and dependent upon a successful interview at the College. Interviews commence on Thursday, August 12th 2010. Application forms can be downloaded by clicking here. Classes: We strictly limit the numbers of students in our Repeat Leaving Certificate year. Most students take seven subjects. Since there is a range of eighteen subjects, it is not surprising that our classes are small in size, some of them in single figures.Career Guidance & Personal Development: Each student is scheduled for a weekly ‘ Lifeskills class’ . This class seeks to promote and develop skills such as: Study-skills, time management, schedule planning, C.V. preparation, interview skills and examination techniques. Students are enabled to experience and process decision-making and problem-solving. They undertake exercises in self -evaluation and self-awareness and they develop communication and relationship skills. Career research and application to Third Level Colleges, nationally and internationally, are guided and monitored on an individual basis. Parent/Guardian Liaison: We are convinced that our close liaison with parents enhances students’ progress. Therefore we encourage and facilitate close collaboration with our Seventh Year Parents and Guardians.GAMES & ACTIVITIES OTHER FACILITIES Supervised Study: As well as scheduled supervised study periods during the school day, supervised evening study is provided for from Mondays through to Thursdays each week.
ACCESS: Bus Routes: 7, 7A, 45, 45A, 84. Dart: From Dun Laoghaire . The 111 Feeder Bus connects with the College. |
