We did not all start together, nor did we all finish together; but for a time we worked together.

What's Happening?

Barry Guilfoyle: I'm now working for Dublin Fire Brigade in Dun Laoghaire Fire Station as a Firefighter/Paramedic. I now live with my fiancée, Sue, in Corke Abbey, Bray and we are getting married in August 2008. I missed the class reunion but I'll definitely make the next one. Hello to all! [Oct ‘07]
Richard Hall: I attended Laurence's and had a great time . Just letting you know that all the help from Father Mike helped me get to were I am today, I hope all the pupils who attend his computer classes realise the potential they can unlock.

Best Regards, Richard Hall, Technical Support Associate, Enterprise Server 1, Dell Inc., Cherrywood,

Ursula Hammond: At the beginning of 1998 I moved to Jersey in the Channel Islands where I worked in the Tourism Industry, receiving awards from Jersey Tourism along the way.(surprised me as well!) After almost three years I left Jersey and did a round-the-world trip, meeting along the way, some past pupils of the college in the outback! In 2002 I returned home and worked in the HR Department of a large financial institution. 3 years ago I moved to Co.Cavan and I am currently working in an accounts office in Meath, managing the payroll for a large company.

I am still in regular contact with the close friends I made in St. Laurence College. And for those I am not in contact with, I hope you are all healthy and happy. [Nov. 05]

Aine Ni Bhriain: Well things are grand with me. Been a busy few years :-) I travelled to Australia for a year after the Leaving Cert. Had some great adventures and saw some beautiful things. Came back to Dublin and studied Computer Science, Linguistics and Irish at Trinity, taking a year's Erasmus in Aberdeen in Scotland to learn Scottish Gaelic.

Afterwards I travelled some more, worked for a few years and then went back to Trinity to do a Masters in Speech Synthesis and Speech Recognition. We made a synthetic Irish voice that you can hear at http://www.abair.tcd.ie/.

While I was working on my masters I went to India for a month. I met a Danish guy and he moved to Ireland 3 weeks after the holiday. We're now married and I live in Odense in Denmark. I work as a software developer at the local university. When I moved here I decided to start focusing on music again. I hadn't sung since school. So now I'm acting in musicals and singing in a band in my free time. Really enjoying it!

Thats a short summary of the last 13 years. Thanks to you and all the other teachers at Laurence's for your support and kindness for the 3 years I was there. Wishing you all the best! [Jan '10]

Shane O' Neill here: just googled the college and found that ye had a reunion.

I’m living on the Sunshine coast in Queensland Australia – just moved up from Sydney .

I am engaged to an Irish girl who I met in Greece 9 years ago – have travelled around for awhile – now settled, working for myself as contract carpenter – all is good here – will be back in Ireland for Paddies Day for a month – might see a few past-pupils in the pubs – you never know .SLAN... Put a few more photos up or send me some please. [Jan 08]

Michael Yonaha: I am a former pupil of St. Laurence and was surprised to find a homepage on the internet and more surprised to find my name on the Past-Pupil page!

I only attended for a short time but have fond memories of the College and of Ireland. You might remember me as the oriental with the javelin. haha!

I wish I could have stayed on at St. Laurence to achieve more academically and to have taken the javelin more seriously. I remember Mr. Heaney well and how much promise he held for me with the javelin. I must apologize for leaving so suddenly.
The summer of 1996, I moved to Okinawa and attended a high school well known for sports. My Japanese language skills were very basic, almost non-existent but nevertheless they accepted me. I joined the school karate team and entered many competitions, received my dream black belt and overall had a great senior year.

After I graduated I travelled around America, went back to Okinawa and worked as a carpenter for a while. I then travelled to mainland Japan, stayed in Tokyo for a couple of years, back to Okinawa then onto Ireland and back to where I am today in Tokyo. After a lot of moving around, I’m kind of settled now in Tokyo but in the near future, I’ll be going back to Okinawa. I have plans to open my own karate dojo and also to make some kind of Irish/Okinawan karate union. It’s going to take some time but its exciting just thinking about the whole thing materializing.

I’ll be getting married soon too to a lovely Japanese girl but no definite date planned yet.

My mother and sister are in Ireland. My sister will be moving to the United States next year to take a course in Yoga to become an instructor. My mother is waiting for the day when I will get our home built in Okinawa so she can retire under the nice Island sunshine away from the freezing cold of Ireland! I’d better get a move on with it.

I used to keep in contact with a classmate from St. Laurence named Alan Bailey, he was my best friend there at the college. It's been over a decade now since I heard from him last and wonder sometimes how he’s doing. When I saw the class reunion pictures on the website, for sure Alan Bailey is the guy with the long hair and moustache. I was glad to see he’s still around. I wonder if there’s any possible way for me to get in contact with him again through the college. It would be really great to hear how he’s doing and all that. (editor's note -- we got Michael in contact with Alan) Thanks [March ‘09]
