What's Happening? |
Lorraine (Beirne) Hopcroft: (Mrs.Beirne's daughter!!). I am now living in USA . I went to Germany for a year to be a nanny, met a handsome American G.I. who swept me off my feet, brought me to America , and married me!
We have been married almost 15 years, have a beautiful daughter, and handsome son. I went to college here, got my nursing degree and have been doing various nursing jobs.
Currently we are living in D.C., and I am working at the National Institute of Health(NIH). My husband has just retired from 20 years of military service, and now runs a technical electronics company. I am working on my masters degree in nursing info matics, and trying to enjoy the wonderful life I have with my gorgeous family. We travel home about every other year, and my family come and see me a lot. My husband and kids LOVE Ireland , but it's too cold to live there year round! My son is planning on attending Trinity College.
Occasionally I hear from old classmates, but not enough. I have missed the reunions, but promise to make it one year......
I hope all the Bros. and teachers are doing well. My school experiences give some of the happiest memories I have.
Hope to hear from some of you:) [Dec '05] |
Sharon Coakley: Wow 16 years already. That'll make you feel old. I left St. Laurence after third year, couldn't wait to get out and get a job at the time. If only we knew then what we know now! I went back to school years later and did my Leaving Cert. then did a PLC in Interior Design and have been working as a kitchen designer for the last ten years.
I have a beautiful daughter, even if I do say so myself, and I'm living in Bray the last five years – so never flew to far from home. Would be great to hear about a reunion. I’ve seen one or two people over the years but never really good with names. Still in touch with Ursula Kelly on and off as she lives in Nottingham as a Photographer.
So good luck with the plans! [July O6] |
Sinead Cronin (these days McCabe): . The website looks fantastic and a reunion sounds like a great idea. I have often wondered over the last few years, was there one arranged that I missed? It is hard to believe that 16 years have gone by, Just looking at the names, all the memories came flooding back, mostly good although, I probably didn't think so at the time.
I am trying to match the photos with the names and doing reasonably ok - I think! Trying to pick myself out is harder.
Going back to the reunion, if I can help in any way I would be delighted to. I was a bit shy about digging in and helping out when we were school, so it's about time I made up for it. Unfortunately, I am not in touch with anyone so how much use I'll be I don't know.
I went to college in Roslyn Park to do Secretarial and Computer Studies, then changed jobs a couple of times. I worked for the Centre for Independent Living for several years. It is an organisation founded and run by people with disabilities promoting the 'Philosophy of Independent Living.' There is a slogan "Nothing about us, without us" which captures the focus of the organisation.
It was really interesting and enjoyable work, so enjoyable that I married one of my bosses, Michael is one of the founding members. We are married almost 7 years now but haven't been lucky enough to have children yet. I did a bit in the legal sector too, in a firm of Solicitors and later in the Legal Aid Board but eventually decided to settle down in a permanent pensionable job. So I now work for the Revenue Commissioners and hope too for the next 30 - 40 years.
I would be pleased to hear from others. [April '06] |
Donna Flynn: Hi there,
I hope everyone is doing well. I am very lucky to be in a job I love, which is working for a dance company running the office, and I also teach Salsa part time. It took me a long time to get to here, doing a few jobs until finding Salsa.
Would love to see everyone, and catch up, if there is anything coming up.
Nice to see the site. [June ‘07] |
Sarah Geraghty: I was just on the web-site and was both shocked and delighted to see so many of my class mates giving an update! Great to hear all about you again! I am working in HR for past 8 years and I am currently working in Software Development company as their HR Generalist.
I would love to hear about the reunion and I would be happy to help where I can. I am in the process of moving house and getting married later this year (never liked to rush into anything :) -- so maybe tight for time, but do let me know where I can help out.
Kind regards. [June '08] |
Dave (Keego) Keegan: Hello!
As I write this I've realised that it’s almost 18 years since we all parted company!
I have to say I have fond memories of the years spent at St. Laurence College. I can still remember as a first year student not being allowed to sit at the "corrals" in the Library because they were only for the sixth years!
Then there was the famous pre-debs held in Ziggys, enough said.....and everybody dressing up for Rag Day, heading down to the barley fields and taking over B6!
I was always into music and photography and after I left school, I stuck at it. I had several odd jobs along the way, then turned professional as a session musician in the late 90's and have toured the US and Europe annually since '99 working with different groups and performers. My photography work has been used in many Irish publications and in The Irish Times.
I'm still based in Dublin and living with my partner, Georgina . No children yet!
I still see the odd few people now and then, (Eilish Cullen, Beano, Bombers (Tom O'Connor) and my cousin Mark Keegan.
I would love to see how everybody is doing and fair play to Aisling Hickey to get the ball rolling! I have a lot of pictures from 2nd year onwards that I would love to show if we all got together again.
I hope anybody reading this from our year, will extend this list, as its great to hear what people have been up to in the last 18 years!
Hope everybody is well and look forward to a reunion soon.

All the best. [June ‘07] |
Colin Maguire: How are all you doing? What a time we had. Hey time goes by so quickly. 34 now, oh my god. Anyway i'm still in touch with a lot of old school friends, but still haven't seen a lot of you since those days. Anyway when i left school, i went to live in Holland for a short while (9 months or so). Lived in Dublin for a few years and worked in numerous jobs, until breaking my neck off a motorbike in September 2004, which i survived with no paralysis . . . very, very lucky. Studying computers now and living in Dublin . . . love to see a reunion soon. i'm going to tell everyone i know from then to start writing in and hopefully it will help the cause .... bye for now. [April '06] |
Ciara Mangan: I’m doing fine, living in sunny Kent and working in London for a software vendor. I moved to the UK about 2 years ago and am really happy here. I come back to Ireland on a very regular basis, so I don’t miss out on my two nieces or any of my friends’ children growing up. My family also spends a lot of time with me in Kent, which means I don’t have a chance to get homesick. I have a partner called Simon and he has three children from a previous marriage. I’m not sure that anyone would remember me, as I was only there for a year, but I did love my year and I have some fantastic memories.
The website looks great, you’ve done a great job.
Best wishes. [June ‘06] |
Owen McGovern: After Laurences, I studied in Kevin St. College of Technology. With a degree in computer programming, I have been working in I.T. ever since. Currently am a senior software engineer, working in the city centre and living in Lucan. Can be contacted via www.classmates.ie [Nov. '05] |
Graham McKeown: What a fantastic site… Can’t believe that it’s been 16 years. Can’t believe we wore those clothes…. Can’t believe that there was that many in the class as well!! A reunion is a fantastic idea.
For me, when I left, I went to college in Dundalk for a couple of years and then completed a degree in National College of Ireland. Went off and lived in the States for a couple of years (South Carolina) came back and have been working in IT for the last 10 years. I’m living in Stepaside and working in Dun Laoghaire so never too far from “home.” I have been blessed with a young son (Dillon). He’s 7 months old…..
I still hang around with Alan Mahon and am in contact with Gavin Wildes (who looks the exact same as in the photos, maybe a bit taller) and am always bumping into people (never remembering their names!!!). If you need a hand organising a reunion, please let me know….
Looking forward to the reunion already!!!
All the best. [May '06]

Joe Peacock: Being a vain git i Googled myself and the web site came up with my name on it, and i just spent over an hour reading through it and recalling names and faces and the things we got up to.
Well the long and short of it is: have been married, have 3 great children, got divorced, met someone else and now am expecting twins – due late June 08.
Have had a selection of jobs between leaving Larry`s and now: starting out in Vincent’s Hospital, then onto the building sites, then into a factory for a while, then worked for myself, then worked for a builder in Wicklow and now working doing building maintenance.
What’s the story on a reunion next year for the 20th anniversary of our breaking free/being let loose on the world? Would be nice to meet up with the rest of ya`s over a beer and have a chat about the good old times.
Cheers and all the best [May 08] |
| Ben Prenter here!!! Reunion a great idea. Would love to see friends from the past! Can't believe it’s 16 years. Hope everybody is well. Working as head store-man in the Housing Department. Living happily in Sallynoggin with my girlfriend and two daughters. Would like to see you all and have a legal drink for once! God Bless. [June ‘06] |
Rachelle Ralph: I was only there for a year and a half but it is the memories from St Laurence's that I remember most from my schooldays. Mr. McGuinness and Mr. Murtagh would be really surprised to find that I use lots of Maths & English in my job as payroll software analyst\technical writer.
I have lived in Brisbane for the past 3 years and in Sydney for the 8 before that. I have a wonderful husband, a dog and a happy, quite life away from the big smoke.
Would love to come home for the reunion for a catchup, just hope that I can make it. [Sept. ‘06] |
