School Organisation

St. Laurence College actively promotes partnership between parents, teachers and the Marianist order in the management, administration and development of the school.

Parental Support

The successful education cannot be managed without the cooperation and assistance of parents. Numerous studies have shown that students perform better when parents are directly involved in the school and its activiites.

With this in mind, parents are strongly encouraged to take an active part in the St. Laurence College Parents Association, which has played a full role in the development of the school from it's earliest days. Parents of St. Laurence College students are acknowledged as partners in the education of their children.

The Association is run by a 12 member commitee, which is elected on a yearly basis at its Annual General Meeting in May. Activites undertaken by the Association include social evenings, talks by guest speakers and fundraisng events such as the annual Christmas Auction and the College Race Night.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

The college organises regular parent-teacher meetings, offering parents the opportunity for one-to-one meetings with individual teachers. On-going cooperation and assistance also includes regular briefings and newsletters to update parents on developments within the school.

Finances

Even though it is enrolled in the "Free Scheme" programme, like many other secondary schools, St. Laurence College still finds it necessary to supplement funds provided by the Department of Education and Science. The parents association provides invaluable assistance with school fundraising activities.

Board of Management
St. Laurence College is managed by a Board of Management made up of nominees from the parents, teachers and the trustees (The Marianist Order) working under the direction of the Department of Education and Science. The school principal acts as secretary to the Board and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school.

Community Activities
St. Laurence College is open to community organisations and shares its facilities with many groups in the local area.
