The Library

Few schools can rival the large and spacious library available to students of St. Laurence College. Situated in the centre of the school building, this large and well-lit area provides an ideal environment for learning and study. With approximately 8,000 books in the library is an invaluable resource constantly used by students seeking educational, research and recreational information. The library is used throughout the day for scheduled study periods.The school employs a full-time librarian.

Lockers
Every Student attending St. Laurence College is provided with a personal locker for secure storage of books, equipment, sports gear and other personal possessions.

The school operates a sucessful book rental scheme making expensive books available to students at a very reasonable rate.

Canteen

A large canteen, complete with shop, is available for students at lunch time and recess.

Computer Facilities
In an age when computers, information technology and the Internet are such an important part of modern communications, St. Laurence College is well- placed to educate pupils in this area with a new state-of-the-art computer room. For many years, the school has been firmly committed to ensuring that every student has access to his or her own terminal. Arrangements are even made to allow students to borrow computers for home use. The college puts strong emphasis on teaching students the basic computer skill of keyboarding, so that they can use word-processing, spreadsheet and database programmes effectively. In an age of rapid technological change, an emphasis is placed on students independently 'learning how to learn'. Students are also encouraged to use the computer to complete research projects and reports. Besides in- house resources, students have Internet access, they are encouraged to learn on their own, and given credit and recognition for self-acquired skills.
