Facilities

With a wide range of well-equipped facilities, St. Laurence College is in an exceptionally good position to support the school’s extensive academic and study programme.

The Library
Few schools can rival the large and spacious library available to students of St. Laurence College. Situated in the centre of the school building, this large and well-lit area provides an ideal environment for learning and study. The library is used throughout the day for scheduled study periods. The school employs a full-time librarian.

School Facilities
Classroom studies are supported by a wide range of well-equipped rooms. These include:

Computer Room (upgraded 2004)
2 Art Rooms (new one 2008)
DCG Room (computerised and upgraded 2008)

Home Economics Room (upgraded 2007)
Prayer Room (established 2005)

Lockers
Every Student attending St. Laurence College is provided with a personal locker for secure storage of books, equipment, sports gear and other personal possessions.

Canteen
A large canteen, complete with shop, is available for students at lunch time and recess. This facility is also available for 7th Year students after school.

Computer Facilities
In an age when computers, information technology and the Internet are such an important part of modern communications, St. Laurence College is well- placed to educate pupils in this area with a new state-of-the-art computer room.  Each student is furnished with individual username identity. Students are also encouraged to use computers to complete research projects and reports and to research and complete their CAO and UCAS applications.

Chaminade Hall
The pride of the College sports centre is the school’s large and well equipped maple-floored sports hall. Comprising 6,700 sq feet of space, the hall is marked out to accommodate a wide range of indoor sports.  Outdoor facilities include: a new Astroturf pitch, three soccer pitches, one gaelic games pitch, one basketball court and athletics facilities.

Supervised Study

As well as scheduled supervised study periods during the school day, supervised evening study is provided for from Mondays through to Thursdays each week. Evening study is a compulsory component of the 7th Year Programme. Evening study is three hours long with a ten minute break. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday study is from 4:30 – 7:30, and Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00.
