The goal of Marianist education is to develop every student as a whole person, helping them to understand the many different branches of human knowledge, educating them to critical thinking and stimulating their desire for truth and theory in action.
This philosophy is summarised by the St. Laurence College motto, “Out of Darkness Towards Truth and Imagination”, which symbolises our belief that striving for truth and integrity is the hallmark of education.
Our College Logo is proudly displayed on our main lobby wall, at the Staff Entrance to the College and on the crest of our newly rejuvenated school uniform. Traditionally understood to be a dove on the backdrop of a cross, some hold that the original idea was a dove on a set square! Either way it remains to be a very important symbol for our staff and students and one to be worn with pride.
