The course offered by St. Laurence College is more than just another chance to resit papers. From learning to effectively fill out the CAO to planning study in a way that made it more manageable, St. Laurence College completely improved how I tackle learning and study. Not only were the staff exceptionally dedicated, but right from the onset they treated us like adults which made the return less daunting. It was a tough year but it was also an incredibly positive experience, I would recommended it to anyone thinking of repeating. Susan Coffey (Seventh Year 2010/11)
The most extraordinary thing about this programme is … the student receives an unparalleled standard of teaching coupled with supervised compulsory study and frequent additional classes. While maintaining a rigorous “no-frills” approach to all things, the dedicated staff, nevertheless, manages a highly focussed and personalised service (including great support for parents). This is particularly valuable for students repeating the Leaving Certificate and who may be coming to St. Laurence’s with a range of issues and difficulties. I cannot praise it highly enough.

St Laurence College really helped me to get focused. The staff encouraged me to reach my full potential. Not only did I improve my study skills and work ethic, I received guidance which was central to my college choices. The year was incredibly beneficial to my academic career and I made some good friends along the way.
Marc Tiernan (Seventh Year 2009/10)
The dedication of all the staff at St Laurence College is something I have never before experienced. They know all their students extremely well, encourage them to work to realize their potential, and are available at all times to not only the students, but also their parents. From the outset, my daughter was supported and encouraged to buy into what is a tough but very rewarding system, which regardless of the points achieved in August, has left her with an enormous sense of personal achievement. Over the year I have seen her grow in confidence. She has developed a close bond with other students and has grown very fond of all those who supported her. For my daughter this year has been more productive than I ever could have imagined.

Repeating on the Seventh Year Programme was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Although it was one of the toughest years I have experienced, it was one of the best. St Laurence College has helped me in every way; through organized study schedules every weekend and break, study skills days, extra classes before the Leaving Certificate and support all the time. They gave me the best career guidance which helped me to focus on what I really wanted in the future. Though a lot of hard work and pressure, it was worth it in the end!

The 7th year programme at St Laurence College offers students an environment of structured and determined learning where commitment and accountability are the order of the day. And it works. The no nonsense, no excuses teaching regime for Leaving Certificate re-sit students is backed by warm and supportive career and personal development counselling that will help your child reach their potential… and perhaps a little beyond their own self-imposed limits.
Peter Murtagh (Seventh Year Parent 2008/9)
Our son has just finished 7th Year in St Laurence College Loughlinstown. We knew from the beginning that the year in Loughlinstown would be strict and structured. What we did not know then was how hugely supportive and caring the team in St Laurence College are. He has not just gained academically but has grown in confidence, knows what he wants for the future and has a belief that he can achieve it. Overall the year was an enormously positive experience.
